LLOYD "ZERO"SIMMONS

Lloyd "Zero"Simmons 27 Seasons, 1,643 wins to 312 losses, a national record for the most wins by a coach at any college level. For more than a quarter of a century, Seminole State College head baseball coach Lloyd "Zero" Simmons has produced winning baseball teams.As a matter of a fact, on Feb. 15, 1999, Simmons became the winningest baseball coach in the nation with a record of 1,495-271 when the Trojans defeated Texarkana Junior College, 15-14 in 10 innings.

The victory pushed him past Gordie Gillespie, who is still coaching at Ripon College, an NCAA Division III school located in Ripon, Wis.Without skipping a beat, on Feb. 4, 2001 Simmons captured his 1,600th career win, with a 12-6 defeat of Briar Cliff, New York.In the 2000 season, Simmons took an unprecedented 13th baseball team to the NJCAA World Series in Grand Junction, Colo. The team ended the year in third place with a record of 50-16. Simmons' 2000 squad also produced three All-Americans and one player who signed a professional contract.

Of the previous 13 trips to the World Series, the team has returned home as runner-up four times, third twice, fourth once, fifth three times, and one time each in seventh, ninth and tenth slots.In his 26 years at SSC, Simmons' teams have always been ranked in the top 15 in the nation.In addition to the World Series appearances, Simmons has taken his Trojans to 16 NJCAA Region II titles, and 13 NJCAA District Championships.

Along the way, Simmons has produced 41 NJCAA All-Americans and more than 130 of his former players have signed professional baseball contracts.In 1997, Zero was inducted into the NJCAA Hall of Fame.That same year, Simmons saw the completion of the Lloyd Simmons baseball Facility at Oiler Park. Built utilizing contributions and in-kind financial support from Seminole and nearby communities, the state-of-the-art indoor training facility includes offices, a large dressing room, a weight-training area and indoor hitting and pitching tunnels.

Simmons resume also includes being named an assistant coach of the USA Team Tour of Japan in 1983 and coach of the USA Olympic Trials in Homestead, FL in January of 2001. Simmons was voted Oklahoma Baseball Coaches Association (OBCA) "Coach of the Year" 9 times and was recently inducted in to the OBCA Hall of Fame. Currently, Zero coaches for the Kansas City Royals organization and lives in Surprise, AZ.
